Metaphysically: The Incarnation
The highest Cause can communicate - and has communicated - itself integrally and without modal diminution to one of its effects. (Wood/Maximus)
There can be a reciprocal - and total - perichoresis between the divine nature or essence and a created nature or essence. (Wood/Maximus)
A single event/Person establishes both the absolute natural difference and concrete identity of God and creatures. (Wood/Maximus)
There is a form of causality which is neither atemporal nor linearly temporal, in which that which is the Beginning, upon which all else depends, retroactively posits itself as such (as the Beginning) by becoming the End (a result). (Wood/Ross/Hegel)
Existentially: The New Birth (of Sons of God)
The natural and unfree or unchosen events of one’s physical birth and inevitable death (in themselves inhuman absurdities) can be “overdetermined” or constituted as sites of freedom by a new birth accomplished through a new manner of dying. (Behr/The Fourth Evangelist)
Are you in any sense familiar with the book by Iain McGilchrist The Master & His Emissary in which Iain describes in great detail how we Westerners (in particular) now "live:" in a world" created by left-brained spirit killing reason.
It is perhaps interesting to note that the image featured in this posting is in effect a "celebration" of the emergence and even the triumph of such left-brained reason. There is a complete absence of any sense of the Sacred in that image, and indeed of the natural world too.
Who does “Ross” refer to?
